Mike T’s Single Speed Mudville

Finished Mike T’s Single Speed Mudville a little bit ago, but wanted to post up some fun pics. This is probably one of my favorite builds of the year. Can you believe CX racing starts in New England in just over a month!?! Craziness!!!!

NAHBS 2014 Release: Geekhouse Unveils Hopedale Road Disc

Geekhouse Bikes is launching a new disc road bike at North American Handmade Bike Show, the Hopedale Disc. Geekhouse partnered with SRAM, Vittoria, and Selle Italia for the builds. Studio photography provided by Heather McGrath.

The frames are built with 100% made in the USA tubing, with a mix of True Temper’s Ultra-light S3 and OX Platinum. Also featuring Paragon Machine Works ‘Low Mount’ disc dropouts. Two models will be on display. This lightweight crisp steel frame is built for aggressive road racing, with just a light dash of gravel grinding. Let’s call it a peppering of gravel, shall we?

The paintjobs for the yellow, red, and blue bikes all use a two-step process Powder Coat/Wet Paint process. All three show-bikes have a powder-coated base, and then Jordan Low masterfully applied wet paint in geometric patterns. The artwork, done by Adria Klora, highlights an array of things near and dear to frame builder Mary Walsh – including the building where Geekhouse is headquartered (yellow), dazzle camo (blue), and the Zakim Bridge in Boston (red). We tried to fit in space cats, but alas maybe next year..

The yellow Hopedale Disc will be heading to the owner of Cooks Paint Works in Japan, via Blue Lug Bicycle Shop after the show.

The red Hopedale Disc belongs to Kyle B, in Texas, which he gave as a 30th birthday present to himself. Happy Birthday Kyle!!!

The blue Mudville is an extra special bike though, aside from the paint and HED wheels, SRAM Force, and Thomson components. This bike is the first bike Walsh has built for his father, Thomas Walsh. It’s also a surprise. His Dad will find out at the show, far surpassing previous surprises like lighting the lawn on fire.

View these bikes this weekend 03/14-03/16/14, Geekhouse Bikes is exhibiting at the North American Handmade Bike Show (NAHBS) at booth #400. Come for the razzle, but stay for the dazzle. For more studio shots check us out on Flickr.

Stephen G’s Radical Mudville

This is a fantastic bike we finished recently. We were really excited to do a complete bike with a bunch of Enve components. Enve has been great to us with our cross team for the past few years, so it was exciting to do a bike with Enve rims, stem, and fork. Also the pink Chris King headset, bb, and hubs really pop on this build. Not to mention Jordan Low who did this fantastic matte black and pink custom paint job.

A lot of our inspiration in the past few years has come from mid century modern geometric patterns. You can see that in our past two years worth of cross kits and club kits and now we got the chance to add them to a frame itself.

Thanks again to Stephen G for all his patience on this project! Can’t wait to see action shots of this bike this coming spring. For more studio shots by Heather McGrath check out the Geekhouse visit flickr.

Thanks Guys!

2013 Geekhouse Cross Kit Presale!!!!!!!

2013 Marked a big year for Geekhouse and our support of a CX team. In their 2nd year as title sponsor Cuppow really stepped up and allowed us to sponsor a 6 person Elite squad based in New England.

We new we wanted to do something big with the kits, so again we went back to Adria Klora as head designer. The Razzle Dazzle kit from 2012 really stood out and became a staple of Geekhouse racing. So how do you make the best kit ever, again?

For us a good kit, always comes from a good story. We started to look at different patterns from the same era as Dazzle Camo, and found the patterns were based out of the Deco style. From there we looked at textiles and architecture and picked a geometric pattern that we felt was an extension of our previous designs.

We also switched up the colors as well for 2013. We decided to go from Neon to more of a subdued pastel and incorporating more black, which is a nod to the Geekhouse Club kits. We wanted these kits to stand out, but in a more laid back “It’s cool baby, I guess I’ll go on a date with you, no big deal.” kind of way.

So now is your chance to buy these limited edition 2013 kits. This is the one and only time we will offer these kits, so get while the gettin is good. Check out the store here! Thanks guys!

Tristan’s Brentwood Porter

Tristan is a good friend of mine. The kind of friend who doesn’t judge you if you say attend a Star Trek convention. The kind of friend who laughs when you say the girl in the Klingon outfit is hot, and you’d totally be down to have a Klingon wedding. So when it came time to build him a bike I was super pumped.

Making a specific Porter model is something that we’ve been working on a for a while now. The ‘Brentwood features a more upright geometry, front Velo Orange Porter rack, as well as generator front and rear lights. Tristan choose the Schmidt Edelux front light, with the Supernova E3 front and rear lights.

Stay tuned for the new ‘Brentwood’ page on the new 2014 Geekhouse website, which we will be launching some time this spring. As always, the amazing photo’s provided by Heather McGrath. Thanks guys!

Marty’s ‘Wormtown’ 29er

Mountain biking is what first got me into cycling way back. I took a few years off of shredding the gnar, but after getting my Wormtown 29er built up this spring I fell in love all over again. If you are interested in a Geekhouse MTB for the spring, hit us up right now! I’m planning a batch of 5qty of these bikes featuring a 142x12mm axle, super short 410mm chain stays, cut out Seat tube, and the colors you’ve learned to love from Geekhouse.

Follow Geekhouse bikes on Instagram and look for hashtag #manmornings for pics of early morning shreds from this past year.

For full sets of this bike check us out on flickr.

Thanks guys, stayed tuned for more off road bikes from Geekhouse in 2014!

YaHo, Northampton CX…a look back.

Cross season is officially over, so here’s a look back at once of the bigger races of the year, Cyclesmart Northampton. Our title sponsor, Cuppow, has been really great to us. So, there’s really no reason for one of our elite racers to be openly drinking out of a mason jar sans Cuppow! Oh that’s right, it was Mike’s special shake via BNTO.

Kevin has his game face on and isn’t letting anyone pass him!

This was a rough hill to run up, but Ian just looks like he’s out for a stroll.

Andrew flying through the flats!

Dream boat Ian flies around tough turns. Our 2013 Geekhouse/Cuppow tent is in the background. We might have gone pastel over neon for our elite riders, but make no mistake, Geekhouse is just as loud as ever! The cowbells help.

We make all Team Mudville’s to be as light and race ready as possible! Matt here, making it look like nothing jumping over those barriers.

Geekhouse Elite squad is not to be messed with! Check out Mike’s game face as he takes that turn!

Thanks for the great season NECX! And a millions thanks to Cuppow for being so great to us! We had a fun year and are excited to see what next years cross season will bring. See you in 2014!!!
